A rescued dog from Thailand’s meat market has become a reality star after appearing earlier this week on “Britain’s Got Talent,” where the judges, including animal activist Simon Cowell, were brought to tears.
According to the The Sun, the pooch named Miracle performed on the show with some clever magic tricks, but it was his past and the story of his survival which impressed everyone. Miracle and his canine pals were performing crowd “pleasers” for sure.
Miracle’s owner, Amanda Leask, described how the dog had survived his early years living in the most egregious environment in a crammed area caged with a thousand other dogs. Ironically, when rescuers first appeared at the farm, they thought the dog was dead.
“When the rescuer first saw him, she thought he was dead, but when her camera flashed, he opened an eye. It was a miracle he was still alive. We brought him back to Scotland and slowly nurtured him back to health,” Amanda told the judges.
Yet, even having had endured the worst of mankind, Miracle is truly a shining example of the loyalty and love dogs have for humans. For the last six years, the dog has brought comfort to Amanda’s son, Kyle, who has cerebral palsy and autism. Whenever Kyle becomes upset, Miracle will go to him and let the child grab his fur on the back of his neck for comfort.
Tragically the dog and cat meat markets are among the most torturous acts of animal cruelty in the world. The dogs are skinned and tortured alive because the people believe the pain inflicted upon these poor creatures make their meat more tender. Many of the dogs are stolen pets wearing house collars and name tags.
The show is scheduled to air tonight in the UK.
