Rescue seeks home for ‘World’s Worst Cat’

An animal rescue in North Carolina has issued an odd plea on behalf of a cat who they refer to as the “World’s Worst.” Indeed, Mitchell County Animal Rescue’s description of Perdita the cat is far from the norm…most shelters and rescue agencies highlight a homeless pet’s shining attributes, rather than pointing out their faults.

In the case of Perdita, the list of this feline’s short-comings is long. The rescue agency writes:

Meet Perdita, not for the faint of heart. LIKES: staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again; the song Cat Scratch Fever, the movie Pet Cemetery (Church is her hero), jump scares (her specialty), lurking in dark corners, being queen of her domicile, fooling shelter staff into thinking she’s sick (vet agrees…she’s just a jerk)

Perdita dislikes many things, including chipper kittens and the color pink, as well as dogs and kids and other happy things, like Disney movies, Christmas and even the Dixie Chicks. The animal rescue writes:

She’s single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space.
