A sex-offender is facing animal cruelty charges for leaving cats to die inside of an otherwise unoccupied residence in an Essex County, New York. According to multiple sources, 25-year-old Brandon McCoy was arrested on Friday in Port Henry for leaving seven cats without food or water in a vacant home in Port Henry.

The cats were all rescued and taken to the North Country SPCA.  North Country SPCA Shelter Manager Pam Rock tells Sun Community News:

They’re gaining weight and doing much better now. They’re all so sweet, and they’re settling in nicely.”

McCoy is facing animal cruelty charges in addition to felony charges for moving and failing to provide an updated address for his sex offender registry.

The rescued cats will be available for adoption soon – learn more by visiting www.ncspca.org.
