A dog is recuperating from severe injuries believed to be caused by someone who secured him to a rope, dragged him, and chopped off his tail. The dog, dubbed Whiskey, has been taken under the wing of the non-profit, Love is Fur Ever Dog Rescue, in Floriday.
Two days ago, the rescue group wrote:
He is JUST a puppy 8-10months. His growth plates are still very present and haven’t closed yet & he is almost 70 lbs.
In his young LIFE this charming & kind boy has lived through hell. ABUSED, TORTURED, left suffering, and in extreme PAIN.
We were sent pictures of Whiskey today – early afternoon and the village within SECONDS jumped into action.
And recounted what they believe happened to him:
We believe after further information, investigation, and examination he was tied up with a rope of some kind. Then likely dragged causing this massive injury. The most horrific is yet to come.
🙏🏼💔Bare with me as I write this. We believe someone roped him (pictured below), dragged him, and SAWED OFF his tail. There is NOTHING else that would make anymore sense. It is NOT a clean cut. He suffered during this injury. Blood work shows severe infection and lots of blood loss.
Despite Whiskey’s extreme pain, he has maintained a kind and gentle demeanor.
The rescue group has provided and update about his condition, writing:
This boy has the kindest soul even with the torture he has endured.
🤍Today he was sedated, wounds scrubbed hard to cause bleeding so new skin tissue can grow, he was shaved with a Bic razor, and the WOUND VAC was placed. 🤍The wound vac is an AMAZING MACHINE. This machine will speed up recovery by a few weeks. It takes all the infection, dead tissue, and yuck out -then helps to rejuvenate the new skin tissue. This will remain on him for 24-36 hrs.
Investigation
The group provided a promising update about the investigation, writing:
Our LOCAL Lee County Sheriff’s Office-Marceno and his team are ALREADY in the works of creating a report and case. I have been communicating very closely today with a dedicated Sergeant of the Animal Abuse Unit of Lee County FL.
……..BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!
The Animal Cruelty Task Force of Lee County Fl is going to meet him next week when he is a little more stable.
