A four-month-old puppy, found as a stray in the Dallas Fort Worth area was rescued on Friday afternoon. Dallas Dog-Rescue.Rehab.Reform rushed him to their partner veterinarian hospital for life saving treatment.

“He is skin and bones and we do not know what happened just that he had some kind of blunt force trauma to the head. Was he clipped by a car, was he kicked or hit with something we will never know as he was caught as a stray,” the non-profit organization posted on their Facebook page.

When the puppy, now named Gotham arrived at the emergency veterinarian hospital, his temperature was high, he was dehydrated and obviously in pain. His white blood cell count registered high; his red blood cell count was extremely low. It is believed he was showing the first signs of going septic and an aggressive treatment and a blood transfusion has been started.

Fortunately, Gotham has been showing some positive signs. On Saturday morning, he ate and even wagged his tail. His fever has broken, and his pain level is being managed. Although he is not out of the woods yet, this is one strong puppy with a strong desire to live.
