A cruel man who allegedly killed an innocent six-month-old stray puppy in Punjab, India has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
According to the IndiaTimes, Gurpteet Singh, was a trash collector in the area and told Sohana authorities the puppy had been staying near his house. No one could even be sure of Singh’s motives, since the puppy didn’t hurt anyone and only wanted to play. The person reporting the egregious crime to police had been keeping the puppy in his own home.
Instead of trying to help the stray pooch, Singh spread the rumor the puppy had rabies, and on June 17, “he took an iron pipe and hit the puppy in the head and killed it.” He then placed the puppy’s lifeless body in his cart and went to bury it.
“The Sohana police have booked Gurpreet under IPC sections 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle), 428 (whoever commits mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any animal or animals of the value of ten rupees) and 201 (destruction of evidence).”
