Man gets prison sentence

A New Jersey man has been given a prison sentence after being found guilty of animal cruelty. According to multiple sources, 36-year-old Aaron D. Davis will spend a year in prison for nearly killing a pit bull puppy in July 2018.

Davis put the pup, since dubbed River, into a cage and left the cage near the water’s edge as the tide was rising. If a good Samaritan had not discovered the puppy, he would have drowned. Davis had taken the puppy from his owner as retaliation in what is described as a “domestic” issue. The pup has since been adopted to a new person.

Not long after the puppy was rescued, Davis turned himself into the police. A jury found him guilty in December 2019.
