An eight-year-old dog was surrendered back to the Bedford County Animal Shelter in Bedford, Virginia, because he sheds too much. And that’s not exactly something poor Edgar, the fluffy 36-pound collie mix can change or control. We can never discount how sad Edgar must have been after having left the shelter for his new home, and then almost as quickly returned to his kennel cage.
Admittedly, Edgar does shed, and he will need an owner who is willing to accept that. Here are a few suggestions to help:
- Brush Your Dog Daily. This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce the amount of shedding.
- Add Moisture to Your Dog’s Diet
- Bathe Your Dog Regularly
- Keep the Vacuum and Lint Roller Handy
