In San Antonio, Texas, a one-year-old Labrador retriever is receiving better care at the shelter than he has likely had in his short life. Meet Snowball – surrendered by his owner in horrible condition. The shelter has been providing veterinary care.

“That little guy was brought to us on the 22nd,” a shelter staff member wrote. “He was severely emaciated, dehydrated and had severely infected pressure sores. He wasn’t able to stand when we got him either…”

Since being at the shelter and under their care for a week, Snowball is able to stand and walk a bit but does circle which indicates neurological symptoms, possibly from trauma. The puppy also appears to be blind.

At this time, Snowball weighs 24 pounds and is heartworm negative. This young dog needs a reputable rescue organization that can give him the medical help he so desperately needs.

I am a male, white Labrador Retriever blend. The shelter staff think I am about 1 year old. I was surrendered by my owner and I am currently at San Antonio Animal Care Services. If you still believe you may be my owner please make arrangements to pick me up before 4:30 PM on 12/22/2020

  1. ALL lives have value. Having a disability doesn’t mean that the quality of the life isn’t worth living……. it just means you do some things differently…….

If I was in that area, (I live in Seattle) I would foster this precious treasure in a heartbeat. He would get lots of snuggles to reassure him that the world is OK!!!

Whilst we can’t change his past, we CAN help him have a better future!!! We hope that he will heal ASAP and be rehomed into a loving furever family where he will be treated as a beloved family member.

Blind dogs are exactly the same as sighted dogs. We have a blind dog who doesn’t know he’s blind. He plays, begs for treats, tries to steal food, loves car rides, jumps on the sofa, jumps off the sofa….. loves Grammy & Grampy, loves to snuggle, HATES bath time, HATES the vet with a passion……
