In St. Louis, a police officer came to the rescue of a friendly dog on Tuesday with a cable appearing to have been embedded into her stomach. The wound stretched across the dog’s abdomen, and because no one had bothered to attend to the dog nor obviously check on her, the wound became infected.

Fortunately the dog was brought to Stray Rescue of St. Louis and one lucky puppy gets a new ‘leash’ on life.

“Thanks to this police officer, this little girl is safe now! She was on a cable that appears to almost be embedded in her stomach. The wound stretches all the way across her belly, and a thick pus has formed. We’ll get this baby all cleaned up and get her started on her healing journey. Sweet little girl. Her name is Gia,” the rescue posted on their social media page.

On the rescue organization’s Facebook page, animal advocates were very appreciative of the police officer’s help. We are too.
