In Muskegon, Michigan, the police are investigating an alleged animal cruelty incident relating to a social media video showing a boa constrictor snake and a cat.

According to MLiveNews, officers from the Muskegon Police Department were called on Thursday to a home on Muskegon Avenue where a man posted a video to social media with a snake consuming a cat. The owner of the snake stated he had been out of town at the time, and when he returned home he learned of what had happened.

A 21-year-old man admitted to seeing the cat being eaten by the snake and shared the video on social media. An investigation continues and once completed, the information will be forwarded to the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if any charges will be made against the snake owner.

The rescue group, Pound Buddies is assisting finding homes for the other animals at the residence.

The snake has been removed from the home.

The public is outraged:

“KILLING OF CAT: PLEASE READ!!
The recent video post of a snake killing a cat is beyond comprehension. It has caught the attention of our community and we all share the same outrage and disbelief. Here is what we can all do to help…..
PLEASE do not assume or criticize any agency or law enforcement for “not doing anything!”
THEY ARE involved and they ARE doing something.
Investigations and information during the process is not going to be made public so just because you don’t hear “what’s going on,” please do not assume nothing is happening.
Muskegon County is extremely fortunate to have amazing law enforcement agencies who do incredible work….protecting people AND pets!
Please be patient during this process and thank you for your love and compassion and for wanting justice for this unthinkable act,” the rescue posted on their Facebook page to assure area residents there is an investigation continuing.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Muskegon Police @ 231.846.8477.

Beyond disgusting…. Pure evil: this cruel POS will burn forever in a new super hot level in Hell for his cruelty……

Precious treasure murdered by this POS, your life was stolen from you and you suffered horribly wondering WHY……. I hope you get justice and this POS is locked up forever for his crime!!!

I absolutely know that you are in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends.

One great reason to NEVER just give away unwanted pets. EVERY life has value. Pets given away for “free to good home” have been used as bait for fighting dogs, snake and large lizard food, tortured by psychopaths……. Sadly it’s quite common…., KNOW who & where you are rehoming your pets…….
