Photo of security guard holding umbrella over dog in rain draws praises

A security guard at Morrison’s Supermarket in Glasgow on Sunday photographed holding an umbrella over a dog in the rain has captured both the attention and love from Twitter. It’s a fine story to make us all feel better – why what could be better than performing an act of kindness from a dog who doesn’t ask for much.

Ethan Dearman’s photo showing him holding a green umbrella over the golden retriever, named Freddie has drawn worldwide praise.

“Shout out to this Morrisons [supermarket chain in the UK] security man keeping this good boy dry. He said ‘well you never know how dogs feel about the rain,'” Mel Gracie, 25 posted on her Twitter account.

According to the Daily Mail, the downpours didn’t deter Dearman from doing his job. He later responded on Twitter:

“Looks like I made a lot of people happy today.”

Freddie’s owner also responded to more than 120,000 “likes” and thanked Ethan for taking such great care of his dog.

‘Thanks to security man @dearmanethan for putting the umbrella over Freddie when it started to rain! So kind! He’s always so nice to my brother Stuart, my Dad and our Freddie!”

How’s that for a little good news today?
