On March 2, two therapy dogs disappeared from their owner’s yard in Glenville, New York. On Sunday, the dogs’ owner announced that one of the missing dogs was found deceased.

In a post on the Bring Orso and Lucia Home Facebook page, the heartbreaking discovery was shared with followers:

It is with deepest regret and a heavy heart that we inform you that Orso was found deceased he is now home in heaven. We are currently still searching for Lucia. Please keep her in your prayers and please keep an eye out for her. We want to thank everyone for their kindness and sincerity. Please share this to update everyone. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time. This is very difficult and not the outcome we were hoping for.

Information about the dogs’ disappearance, and the owner’s health, were posted on the page on March 18:

Two PTSD THERAPY DOGS missing out of our yard. Two and a half years ago I was in a coma then on life support for 2 month then weeks in a rehab to learn to walk sit stand squeeze my hands raise my arms all over again I been through 23 additional procedures and surgeries since and it’s not over Nov. I’m back in for another major surgery. Life is hard enough with trauma and PTSD But when you get a dog to help assist with all the life’s chores like standing up with his assistant and walking next to you so you don’t fall and assist in getting you up off the ground makes life a lot easier but beyond that they are you best friend they are there when things couldn’t get worse. Someone took these dogs from our yard and we have begged to bring them back .

Information and reward

A reward of $7,500 was offered for the dogs’ safe return. It is unclear if the full reward remains in effect following the discovery of the one deceased dog. The Glenville Police ask anyone with information to call (518) 630-0911.
