At the East Valley Animal Shelter, a three-year-old mixed breed pup who spent months isolated in a shelter cage will be humanely euthanized if he is not rescued by Sunday afternoon. His heartbreaking story is just another devastating failure for the people who were in charge of keeping Aries safe.

In April, Aries and his sister, Athena escaped from their home. Although no details of the incident have been released, the situation resulted in multiple bites and Athena killing a small dog. The bite likely occurred when people tried to stop them from grabbing the little dog.

Aries and Athena were seized on April 28, 2020, and from that date, Aries has not been out of his cage. He has received no exercise – no walks, no runs in the yard and is it any wonder he grew angry and frustrated? And when he cried out and jumped in his kennel and injured his back leg, no one heard his painful yelps nor did anyone come to check on him. He wasn’t examined until June 22.

Aries was then transferred to the East Valley Shelter for his 45 days chance at rescue, but because of his injury, and the injury that occurred at the shelter, he is scheduled to be euthanized at the end of the day unless an approved rescue organization can save him. He must live outside of Los Angeles due to his incident.

It is notable that the shelter staff had been able to load him onto the truck and veterinarians were able to examine the dog with no incidents.

Check out his heartbreaking video:

Something went terribly wrong. Aries was very active originally; a high energy pup, but somehow he injured his leg jumping in his kennel. His accident most like was due to stress. Now the poor boy has the leg wrapped every day and he is languishing. The vet at the shelter feels it in inhumane to keep him in this condition. If not rescued, he will die Sunday night.
