A puppy suffering in the elements, behind an abandoned house in DeSoto County, Mississippi, was rescued by a police officer who noticed it chained to a tree in frigid temperatures. The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department recounted what led up to the puppy’s rescue, writing:
Y’all might cry when you read this…
While patrolling a neighborhood, Deputy Andrew Hurst saw a puppy in the backyard of an abandoned houseThe dog was chained to a tree with no shelter, food, or water
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the pup was soaking wet and it was only 36 degrees outside.
The Department commended the deputy for his life-saving action, writing:
No doubt Deputy Hurst saved this puppy’s life. Thank you Deputy Hurst!
