An officer with the Atlanta Police Department has been put on leave following allegations of animal cruelty and domestic violence. As reported by Fox 5 News, Larry Jamel Williams was charged after his live-in girlfriend called 9-1-1 on May 18 alleging that Williams has assaulted her and her dog.

Responding officers arrested Williams and transported him to the Fulton County Jail. The police department has opened an investigation and Williams is currently on administrative leave. He is facing charges for misdemeanor cruelty to animals and battery – family violence.

There is no word on the condition of the woman’s dog.
