On Saturday morning, an officer with the Columbia Police Department Animal Control & Rescue expressed outrage after finding a dog who was likely poisoned. Photos of the dying dog, and words of disgust were shared on social media.
There’s a very special place in this world for people who intentionally harm animals. This pup is showing obvious signs that it has been poisoned. Yes he is a stray, yes we have tried to catch him without a trap, and we were in the process of bringing a trap first thing next week, but unfortunately here he is on a sheet that we used for a makeshift carrier, that was given to us by a sweet person in the neighborhood so we could carry and load him comfortably to get him immediately to the vet.
Someone likely got tired of a stray dog in the area and took matters into their own hands. The officer shared the reason for posting the sad story, and photos with the public:
You may think this post is insensitive, but this is our reality, this is what we are dealing with on this Saturday morning while I should be making preparations for my 13 year olds birthday, I’m watching a fur baby take his last breath at the hateful hands of humans. More than likely poisoned, every single sign is there. HUMANS DID THIS.
The world needs more kindness, and less hate. Rest in peace little one.
