An animal control officer in Nashville, Tennessee, broke out a car window after discovering a dying dog inside of the vehicle, but the help came too late. As reported by WKRN News, 19-year-old Ali Miller left a dog inside of the parked car, with no windows cracked, and the dog died from heat exhaustion.

Miller was arrested and she is now facing a felony animal cruelty charge for her deadly decision earlier this week. Miller was jailed on a $5000 bond; she is due in court on July 7.

Never leave dogs unattended in a parked car – even on moderately warm days. The temperature in a car’s interior can climb to a deadly level in a short period of time. If you find a dog inside of a parked car, please call animal control and/or the police as soon as possible for help.
