The officer who rescued an abused and neglected puppy from a backyard in Niagara County, New York, has gone a step further and adopted the pup. As reported by WKBW News, the puppy, named Hemi, was one of two dogs suffering at the residence.
In a fundraiser created for the puppies’ care, Hemi’s condition was detailed:
Hemi, was emaciated, dehydrated and could hardly walk. His back leg was swollen and bruised so bad that the officer had to carry him. He was rushed to Northtowns Emergency and is now in the care of the SPCA.
The Niagara County SPCA announced Hemi’s adoption on Tuesday, writing:
Thank you for loving me ❤️ My friends at the SPCA are taking very good care of me. I can’t wait to go to my forever home with the officer who rescued me when I’m all better again. Love Always, Hemi
The other pup, dubbed Foreign, was in better condition than Hemi, and she has a promising future ahead as well. According to the Niagara County SPCA, she will be adopted by the sheriff.
