No one wants to adopt Wally because he’s ‘ugly’

First of all, Wally is not ugly – his looks are unique. Too often dogs are chosen by their appearances – the cute ones often find homes quickly. Nevertheless all shelter dogs deserve homes, and Wally is no exception.

Since arriving at the Islip Animal Shelter on Long Island, the 10-year-old pit bull mix had health problems which included a skin infection as well as being blind in one eye. Wally, however has been described by staff and volunteers as having a wonderful disposition,

“Wall is an amazing walrus/hippo/rhino dog that really just needs a home that accepts him and to spend his golden years in!,” wrote a shelter volunteer. “He is a little mush and volunteer favorite.”

Wally has been waiting a year for his new human, but no one has offered to adopt him. Meanwhile shelter life is taking its toll on this senior. Where he once jumped for joy when being taken out of his shelter kennel, now he seems depressed .

Here at Pet Rescue Report, we are sure our readers will enthusiastically share Wally’s story with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. Wally is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, loves people and is motivated by treats.  It is suggested, however that Wally be the only pet.
