A man from Newberry Township has been accused of walking his two one-year-old dogs to a creek next to his home and shooting them to death. On Monday, his family and authorities found the dead bodies of the family pets.

According to the York Dispatch, Jimmy Rickey Lawman, 51, had been home alone on June 20 when he shot and killed a pit bull and an Akita at the creek near Valley Green Road. The family turned over video showing Lawman walking the dogs towards the creek and then hearing what is believed to have been gunshots.

A necrospy performed by the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals determined the dogs had been shot to death.

Authorities have been at the Lawman’s home several times. Lawman has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
