Local lifeguards in Long Branch helped to rescue a deer stuck off the coast on Thursday morning. The frightened animal was spotted in the water off Rooney’s Oceanfront Restaurant.

According to the Long Branch Police Facebook description of the situation, officers along with Animal Control and Beach Supervisor Stan Dzuba joined the rescue squad on jet skis and two lifeguards on paddle boards as they all worked together to get the deer ashore.

“We are happy to report that the deer survived his swim unharmed. This is a perfect example of how lucky we ALL are to have such a wonderful and dedicated team of employees working together across all departments here in Long Branch and a great reminder to only swim when a lifeguard is present!,” the department posted.

Pretty awesome!

Many thanks to the heroes helping those who cannot speak.
