Neighbor’s dog helps save man being crushed by a car

A man in Johns Creek, Georgia, is lucky to be alive after a car he was working on fell off of the jack stands and onto his body. As reported by WSBTV News, if not for the intervention of a neighbor’s dog, Tony Dagnino may have died beneath the car that fell on him.

But Dagnino got the life-saving help that he needed because Ella Truong’s boxer mix, Root Beer, aka “Rudy,” saw what happened and began frantically barking for help. Truong said, “I’m just so thankful and grateful that Rudy had that instinct and was out there. He knew something was wrong.”

Thanks to Rudy, neighbors saw what was happening and came over to lift the car off of Dagnino’s body. He suffered some serious injuries, including a broken collarbone and rib, but he is alive. The ER doctor acknowledged that Dagnino likely would have died if Rudy had not been there to get the attention of nearby good Samaritans.

Dagnino is grateful to his four-legged hero, telling the news agency:

“Never used to be my favorite dog. But he is now my favorite dog. It was like a ‘Lassie’ moment, and I was Timmy.
