Neighbors claim dog died when left outside in the heat

In Harrison Township, Ohio a chained dog had been left out in the intense heat for the last several days on a tether with no shade. According to neighbors who repeatedly called animal control, the Rottweiler could be seen suffering as he sat in the direct sunlight, but by the time the authorities arrived on Saturday, the dog had died. The outdoor temperatures were reported to have been in the mid 90s.

“Their dog’s laying out back, dead. No water. It’s on a leash,” the neighbor told authorities.

According to WhioTv, the dog had been alive in the early hours of the morning tied to a tree. When the neighbor tried to give the dog food and water, he did not respond; by later the same day the dog was seen near respiratory failure as flies swarmed around his face and body.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded; the case is currently under investigation. No cause of death has been released.
