In LaPorte, Texas, a five-month-old puppy showed up at a private home on Sunday and stayed on the porch – quietly sleeping on the “Welcome” mat. The homeowners felt sorry for her – who wouldn’t and were kind enough to feed the emaciated little one, but then the obviously grateful little one refused to leave.

The Good Samaritans wouldn’t allow the puppy to come inside of their home and worried she would wander away while they looked for help.

“We can’t imagine what she thought as she looked inside the glass, but we are thankful she found a family that would get some help,” the rescue organization ThisIsHouston posted on their social media page.

“One of our fosters couldn’t stand to see her continue sleeping on the porch so she picked her up last night and brought her to safety.”

The puppy will be taken to the organization’s partner veterinarian on Tuesday. She is described as being no more than five-months-old and covered in mange. Meanwhile she has been resting comfortably indoors and will be back to optimum help in no time.
