A Maryland man who fatally stabbed his friend’s dog has been sentenced for his crime. As reported by CBS Baltimore, 27-year-old Corey Markus Jones is sentenced to a year in jail for tying his friend’s dog to a tree and then brutally stabbing the canine.
Jones was charged with aggravated animal cruelty for the December 2019 incident which left his friend’s pit bull dead. Jones pleaded guilty to the charge and faces three years of “supervised probation” in addition to jail time.
On December 30, police responded to a call about blood in the area of the 8900 block of Town and Country Boulevard in Howard County. Responding officers found a deceased pit bull tied to a tree – there was evidence that the dog struggled to break free after Jones slashed the neck.
Officers found Jones hiding in a bathtub of an apartment where the dog had been staying – he was wrapped in a shower curtain when the police arrived.
