On Sunday morning, a man in Cromwell, Connecticut, shot and killed his neighbor’s dog in front of two children. According to multiple sources, 31-year-old Bardsley Monfilston shot a year old German shorthaired pointer who had jumped a fence to chase after a bird.
It was Jessica Aurilio’s boyfriend’s pup who was killed. Aurilio told WFSB News,
She’s the sweetest most innocent dog.
Aurilio and her boyfriend’s kids were present when Monfilston pulled his gun and killed the young pointer.
Chief Denise Lamontagne has stated that there does not appear to be “any good reason” that Monfilston shot and killed the dog. She said:
“There was no indication he was being attacked by the dog.”
The shooter is facing multiple charges, including: unlawful discharge of a firearm, cruelty to animals, first-degree reckless endangerment, breach of peace and interfering with an officer.
