In Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, state police were directed to a home in Tioga County after a report of a man shooting and killing two dogs who had been scaring his domesticated white-tailed deer.

According to the NorthCentralPaNews, the two German shepherds had been running loose on the deer owner’s property and began to harass and intimidate the deer that had been fenced-in on the property. The dogs barked and ran along the fence causing the deer to injure herself in fright and damage the fence.

The owner, concerned about his deer, shot the two dogs and called authorities.

The owner of the dogs was notified. The incident, which state police reported as animal cruelty, has been reviewed with the Tioga County District Attorney. A decision as to the disposition of the case has not been announced.
