A Kansas man, stricken with terminal cancer, was able to spend a few last moments with his beloved horse, Vic. Jennifer Wadley, of D & J Ranch, captured the beautiful reunion on video and explained that it happened just one day before Kevin Adkins passed away:
Kevin Adkins had 1 last wish and that was to see his horse. Kevin’s daughter, Delaney made sure that happened. Sadly, Kevin passed away the next day. There is something to say about a cowboy and his horse and the love and friendship they shared. R.I.P. my friend.
The ranch shared the touching reunion on Facebook, writing:
Kevin was able to see Vic a day before he went to be with our Lord. Such a moving moment to see these two together one last time.
As reported by Live 5 News, Adkins spent time with his horse nearly every day for nearly 20 years. Wadley told the news agency,
They’ve been partners for all these years. It could be pouring rain, it could be snowing, it could be hotter than heck. He was always here.
Adkins was with his horse even through the cancer treatments, Wadley said that he would:
“Take the time to brush him, pick his feet and spend time with him, and that went on every day.”
A celebration of Kevin’s life will take place on February 15.
