A Texas man is facing a felony animal cruelty charge for allegedly kicking and strangling a young German shepherd puppy. According to multiple sources, 34-year-old Joseph Dewayne Lloyd, of Dayton, is the man identified as the puppy’s killer.

As reported by the Courier, Lloyd allegedly killed the puppy on January 23. KSHN News reports that concerned neighbors contacted the authorities after hearing the puppy being beaten inside of Lloyd’s home. When the authorities arrived, the dead puppy was found in a nearby dumpster.

Joseph Lloyd was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $5,000 bond; he is a repeat offender with over 13 convictions in Texas.
