Man faces animal cruelty charges for throwing kittens from moving car

A Georgia man is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly throwing kittens out the window of a moving car. As reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC), an investigation led the police to 32-year-old L. Mims of Lawrenceville.

Mims is facing two counts of animal cruelty for the incident, which happened in early July. According to the Sandy Springs Police Department, investigators reviewed street cameras and interviewed witnesses to determine the identity of the suspect.

Officer Housand, who responded to the initial call, fell in love with one of the surviving kittens and decided to make her part of his family. The police department stated:

Animal control was requested but would be delayed due other calls. While trying to decide what to do with the kitten, Officer Housand fell in love with it and decided to keep it as a new addition to his family.

The kitten is now named Holly. The other kittens who were hurled from the car were never found.
