A Chicago police officer’s senior dog was subjected to a cruel attack by a man who apparently targeted the dog in a hate-filled, anti-cop assault. As reported by WGNTV News, the nine-year-old boxer was walking with Terese Arroyo, the police officer’s wife, when 34-year-old Junior Lacy began spewing profanities. Arroyo believes that it was her dog’s collar, which says  “police” on it, which prompted the attack.

Arroyo explained to the news agency:

I was like, ‘ok this is real, he is not going to let me by him. He kept using profanity,” Arroyo said. “‘F this, F the police, I’ll kill all of them.’”

The man allegedly picked up the senior boxer by the collar and started choking her. Arroyo said:

I don’t even know if she was able to breathe or catch her breath at all, he continued to yell profanities about the police

Thanks to a good Samaritan who intervened, Lacy stopped attacking the dog and ran away.

Police were able to track the suspect down and he is facing charges of misdemeanor assault and cruelty to animals.
