A man in Lexington, North Carolina, has been arrested and charged for allegedly dragging a dog to its death. According to The Dispatch, 36-year-old Laurance Brandon Boyles was arrested on animal cruelty charges on September 4.

Boyles is accused of tying a mixed breed dog to the back of his green Ford Explorer and driving around until the dog died.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the incident and a deputy was able to pull Boyles over based on the description provided by a witness. The deceased dog’s body was found in the 700 block of Hill Rd., reports WFMY News.

Boyles is facing a felony animal cruelty charge. He was given a $5,000 secured bond and is due in court on Oct. 5.
