A Mississippi man is facing felony animal cruelty charges for throwing a dog from an overpass. As reported by WMC News, Merterrious Johnson has been identified as the man who hurled a pit bull from the Highway 302 overpass at I-55 late Tuesday morning.
The injured dog was taken to the Southaven Animal Shelter for care. On Wednesday morning, the shelter updated Facebook followers about the dog’s condition, writing:
We have had a lot of calls and e-mails concerning the dog from the overpass incident yesterday. The dog is going to be ok. We are waiting for the investigation to be completed before we move forward with this dog. We can’t give out much information concerning the incident at this time. Our main concern and focus is to get him healthy again. Thanks to all for the outpouring affection for this sweet dog. We are Grateful!
