A California man has been arrested, and is facing charges, for allegedly stealing a dog who he offered to train. The Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office issued a release stating that Benjamin Friedenberg is charged with grand theft of a dog and embezzlement.

According to the release, Friendenberg offered to train a friend’s German shepherd, Thor, for $1,500. But when Thor’s owners attempted to get the dog back, Friendenberg refused – multiple times. The authorities attempted to find out where Thor is, but Friendenberg has refused to disclose the dog’s wherabouts.

Information needed

The accused is facing charges of embezzlement over $400 (PC 503) and grand theft of an animal (PC 487G), both felonies.

This is an ongoing investigation and if you have any information regarding this case or Thor’s whereabouts please call detective Jacob Pruger at (831)454-7096.

  1. This is why I would never leave my dog to be trained. We go as a team and train together. I hope they find the dog safe and sound!
