A North Carolina man is facing animal cruelty charges after he admitted to shooting his own dog in the face. As reported by WBTV News, 37-year-old David Christopher Clewis was arrested and charged on September 25 after admitting to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office that he committed the cruel act.
Clewis told the authorities that he shot his dog in the face after running over him with a car. The dog survived both incidents and ran from Clewis. The gunshot resulted in the dog suffering a broken jaw and loss of an eye.
Clewis is facing a felony animal cruelty charge for the August 22 incident.
