A man in Sterling, Virginia, is accused of beating a puppy with a chain leash. As reported by the Loudoun Times, the puppy abuser is identified as 49-year-old Vinh Dang. Loudoun County Animal Services officials were alerted to the alleged abuse by a caller who claims to have seen Dang beating a husky-mix puppy with a chain leash.

Dang was arrested on May 9 after the authorities viewed video footage of the incident in question. Dang was taken to an adult detention center and later released on bond and ordered not to have any contact with animals.

The puppy has been examined by a veterinarian and was not found to have any long lasting injuries from the beating. Dang is due in court in August to face a Class 1 misdemeanor animal cruelty charge. He could face up to a year in jail and $2500 in fines.
