On Sunday, students at Notre Dame College discovered a “malnourished,” painted dog running loose near College Road in South Euclid, Ohio. The South Euclid Police Department posted a video of the dog, and recounted what is known about the stray:

This morning, Notre Dame College students discovered this dog running loose near College Rd in our city. The dog appeared very malnourished, and for some reason, painted pink. The dog has been taken in by our officers and fed. Attempts have been made to remove the pink paint.

Information needed

An investigation is underway. The police department wrote:

Any information regarding this would be of great benefit to our police department. We would like to hold the individuals who did this accountable, and reunite the dog with their original owner (provided of course the original owner isn’t the person(s) who painted and malnourished the dog).

Note: A comment on the department’s Facebook post indicates that the dog may have escaped from her home. The person commenting has stated that the dog is NOT malnourished. The person who left the comment has stated that the dye is pet safe.

  1. I am delighted that this “escape adventure” ended well for the furbaby.
Waaaaaaay too many “escape adventures” end in tragedy…..

I hope the pet parent does a better job keeping track of her furbaby in the future. A chihuahua is a very small dog and can easily get killed by a car, snatched by a bird of prey (to them our furbabies are “free food”), a coyote or cougar will treat a chihuahua as an “amuse bouchée”, then there are the dog fighters who use small dogs and cats as “bait animals”, creeps who feed small dogs and cats to snakes & carnivorous reptiles…….
