Loyal senior dog trusted her owner – only to be left at shelter

When a picture is worth a thousand words, Nola’s heartbreaking story has already been told. On Thursday, the scared senior arrived at St. Landry Animal Rescue. She arrived in a wire cage in the back of an open truck on a rainy day – she was soaked.

A shelter volunteer posted her photo on the organization’s Facebook with only a few words. Need we say more?

“Trust…..

This senior girl valued her owner’s opinion. THAT SHE WAS SAFE … so she graciously exits her kennel. And enters shelter LIFE. SLAR OPELOUSAS,LA.”

Nola entered the shelter; it is loud and confusing. She is alone. Her owner left. All she wants to do is dig herself into a safe corner and disappear. At this point she doesn’t even want to be touched. Her heart is broken; her spirit lost in the turmoil of the confusion.

“She pancake walks, and tries. But her past will only make shelter life harder. Years of being a pet, rings louder than hundreds of dogs’ echos of barks… This is the fate of some unwanted pets. She has been given a blessing, she is lying in our director’s office … at least its quiet.

Meet Nola just another forgotten soul looking for answers … peace. “

According to the shelter, Nola is a shepherd mix; her owner had her since she was a puppy. He claims she is in perfect health and five-years-old. Her teeth seem to age her nearer to eight. It is also suspected Nola may be blind.

Nola would do best if rescued by an approved rescue organization. Share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts.

Please support this organization. They are currently caring for 400 dogs in outdoor kennels. It has been raining for days, and only a few staff members and volunteers have been helping.
