A one-year-old golden retriever walked 62 miles in a two-week span to return home to her family after escaping from the temporary home where she had been placed in Nantong, China.
According to the Daily Mail, the one-year-old dog named Ping An, (translated to “safe and sound” in Chinese) had been left with friends of the owners while they had their own home renovated. Ping An pined away for her family, and after four-months of separation decided to run away from her temporary quarters and head home.
At the time, the dog’s family had no idea she was trying to find her way home. Luckily, after walking the 62 miles, she was spotted limping outside of an office building – her paws were bleeding and Ping An looked very distressed. There the emaciated pup collapsed from exhaustion, lying on the side of the road with her head between her paws.
Rescuers came to her aid and used social media to find her owners. When WeChat picked up the dog’s story, it quickly went viral. After that it was only a day until her family found her, and thus came the happy reunion.
“Ping An you’ve worked hard. You just stay home from now on. Would never send you away,” the owners can be heard telling their loyal dog at the joyous reunion.
