Little Waldo found in a dumpster with heartbreaking injuries

In New York City, Sunday morning began with another heartbreaking story about a miniature poodle named Waldo. Picked up by animal control, authorities were told a homeless person claimed to have found the dog in the dumpster with horrific injuries.

According to Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs, who stepped forward to help Waldo, the dog’s muzzle had been sealed shut for a prolonged period of time by a rope; the damage done had cut into the sides and bottom of his jaw becoming necrotic. As a result, all of the dog’s teeth rotted and are currently infested with maggots.

Because of Waldo’s serious oral condition, his weight is half of what a normal dog his size and breed should be. He is dehydrated and emaciated and has not been able to eat or drink because his mouth had been sealed shut.

“Why would a monster be so concerned with dying this black mini poodle Blue and Red and tieing (sic) and leaving a rope around his muzzle so that Waldo could not eat, drink or bark?,” the rescue organization posted on their social media page along with the brief heartbreaking videos.

“He also has a severely injured arm, his eyes are crusted shut, he has dry eye, a gaping wound on his cheek and there is an infestation of maggots in his anus as well. All of these sites are severely infected and gruesome. This was obviously done intentionally, and it pains us to think of why anybody would want to hurt such a little innocent boy.”

Waldo has been rushed to the Blue Pearl Specialty Hospital for urgent care. Updates to follow.
