In South Africa’s Kruger National Park, lions have taken to napping along once busy tourist filled roads at the wildlife park. On Wednesday, park ranger Richard Sowry photographed a pride of lions sleeping on the side of the road.
Since March 25, the park has been shut because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Richard continues to work during the shutdown, and it is his job to continuously check on the wildlife and guard against poachers and illegal hunters. He tweeted the following along with photos – wild enough to make anyone go “Wow”!
Kruger visitors that tourists do not normally see. #SALockdown This lion pride are usually resident on Kempiana Contractual Park, an area Kruger tourists do not see. This afternoon they were lying on the tar road just outside of Orpen Rest Camp.
