A larger than life dog, weighing in at an impressive 174-pounds, is waiting to join someone’s family after the death of his owner. The mastiff, named Charlie, is the longest resident at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, reports CBS 8 News.
Kathy Zerkle, the shelter’s director, tells the news agency:
“Charlie’s been nothing but a dream for us.”
On Wednesday, the shelter shared a Facebook post on Charlie’s behalf, writing:
We’ve told you about Charlie. . . a 174 pound Mastiff available for adoption at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. He needs a special home.
Please Share this. We only need one person to adopt him
. . . but it needs to be the right match
Shelter staff calls Charlie a “couch potato” who craves human attention. In February, the shelter wrote:
Charlie has no idea that he’s a big dog. He loves sitting on laps.
His human mom died with no plans for him. He went to another shelter before being transferred to us at RCHS.
He gets plenty of attention here. Good food and care with walks and play time. But a big dog like this really needs to be in a home…not a kennel.
If you are interested in learning more about Charlie, you can give the shelter a call at (760) 753-6413 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
