A kitten, just five months of age, has died after being kicked in the head, allegedly by a child. This week, Yellow Brick Road Rescue NJ, Inc., posted images and a video of the kitten and recounted what happened, writing:
To absolutely no fault of her own this sweet girl was kicked in the head very hard and has now been not very responsive and seizing. The very nice woman who had her was taking very good care of her but could not afford her vet care so of course we stepped in to help.
The kitten, Choji, (renamed Hope), was rushed to Blue Pearl Veterinary to be stabilized, but the damage to her brain was too much for her to overcome. The animal welfare agency shared news of her passing, writing:
Update11/24/20 6:58am: unfortunately Hope passed away. She started responding while being given supportive care but her brain was so swollen and she declined very fast. You are no longer suffering. We tried our very best. RIP sweet girl.
The situation is under investigation:
Yellow Brick Road Rescue NJ, Inc. This whole situation is being looked into. We appreciate everyone’s concern but once we have more info we can share updates. As of now we are working on it. Our priority last night was to get this girl help.
