A dog, found roaming on a golf course in Fort Smith, Arkansas, was likely injured by a golf club. On Monday, the Kitties & Kanines Shelter posted images of the wounded dog and recounted what is known:

This sweet guy is Scrabble he was found roaming Hardscrabble Golf Course. It took three of us to coax him into the shelter when a Fort Smith citizen brought him to us. We think that he was hit in the face with a golf club. Besides a split lip, he is missing most of the teeth on the left side of his mouth and has a broken jaw. His jaw has been wired so it will heal and he is now safe at our shelter.

Including a comment about the emotional suffering he has undoubtedly endured:

We are working to regain his faith in humanity. Despite this horrible act by someone, Scrabble has been gentle and sweet, letting our Vet and vet assistant take care of his wounds without trying to bite.

According to the shelter, Scrabble will be made available for adoption after he has recuperated from his injuries. You can find Kitties & Kanines on Facebook here.
