A puppy was injured after the plastic crate she was held in was set on fire. On Wednesday, the Columbus Division of Fire posted photos of the injured pup, and recounted what is known about the cruel incident, writing:
Columbus Fire and Explosives Unit Investigators are requesting help from the community in identifying whomever is responsible for a set fire on the east side.
On October 11, 2020, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., a small puppy was set on fire while in her plastic cage/crate. The fire occurred in Walnut Hill Park on the East side of Columbus, near Walnut Hill Road and Saranac Drive.

Firefighters responded to the park just after noon and found a small area of melted plastic on fire underneath a tree in the park. As firefighters were extinguishing the fire, they observed a small yellow/ blond puppy with white feet, and a white flea collar, running in the area. The firefighters realized that the puppy had black plastic melted to her back and realized the puppy had been in the cage.
The puppy was brought to a veterinarian, and treated for her burns. A member of the staff at the veterinary hospital adopted the pup and she is said to be doing “remarkably well.”
Information needed
Fire investigators are working with Columbus Humane Society agents to identify who is responsible for injuring the puppy. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the puppy, or the puppy’s former owner.
