In Kokomo, Indiana, a 19-year-old woman faces federal charges in connection with an investigation into the torture of dogs and cats posted to videos on social media. Krystal Scott was arrested on Tuesday and charged with having posted images of dead animals on Instagram and TikTok.
According to FoxNews, a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Indiana stated on May 3, Scott posted images on social media of kittens and dogs tortured by “hanging, skinning and other means.”
Numerous complaints had been received from concerned citizens regarding Scott’s postings.
“During the search, the FBI recovered numerous animal parts and skulls that were consistent with the size of cats and dogs. Agents also discovered approximately three live dogs, twelve live cats and several lizards,” the press released stated.
Scott is also charged with two counts of Making and Distributing Animal Crush Videos.
Crush videos are recordings which typically show women wearing stiletto heels or bare feet literally crushing, torturing, stepping on or impaling small animals to satisfy sexual perversions for sadistic viewers. In 2010, the Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act banned the creation and distribution of obscene animal torture videos.
In 2019, new legislation expanded the current law which outlawed the videos but had not banned the actual acts of cruelty. The latest bill drew partisan support and has been another step to end animal abuse on the federal level. The bill was championed in the House by Reps. Ted Deutch (D) and Vern Buchanan (R). Diane Feinstein (D), Pat Toomey (R), Richard Blumenthal (D) and Dick Durbin (D) introduced the bill to the Senate.
Bravo to our lawmakers working together to help those who cannot speak.
