A 53-year-old hunter in Connecticut is facing a charge for illegal discharge of a firearm after accidentally killing a family’s German shepherd. As reported by the New York Post, the hunter, identified as Peter Martinelli, shot the dog believing that it was a coyote chasing after a buck that he was hoping to shoot.
Martinelli was in a tree stand at the time and he told investigators that he was shocked when he found his neighbor’s dog, Karo, dead, instead of a coyote. He said that he would have “bet his life it was a coyote.”
The eight-year-old German shepherd belonged to the Maffessoli family, who heard the shot ring out on November 3. Their dog had been roaming their 40 acre piece of property at the time. Two days after Karo was shot, Belleann Maffessoli found her dog’s body behind Martinelli’s home.

Beyond disgusting. I think there are lots of hunters who need glasses or their hunting licenses revoked…… German Shepherds and Huskies are clearly NOT coyotes…..
