Two separate and unrelated cases in Houston of dogs being beaten and abused were captured on videos; the Houston County Precinct 1 and Harris Police Departments served warrants to seize the dogs.

According to the SPCA Houston, a puppy was seen in a video being strangled and tossed on the ground. In another video, a dog had been attacked with a knife.

In the first video, a Labrador type puppy could be seen being strangled and then thrown out of the front door of an apartment in Greenspoint. After authorities viewed the video, a warrant was issued, and the Houston SPCA officers seized the pup. The puppy remains in the custody of the Houston SPCA and is reported to be in stable condition.

Precinct 1 sought charges of animal cruelty against the owner, however the Harris County District Attorney’s Office refused stating there was a “lack of sufficient evidence.”

On May 4, a dog and puppy were rescued by authorities after a video showed the owner using a knife to repeatedly hit the dog in the face while the dog remained tied with shoestrings.  Both the dog and puppy are receiving individualized treatment by a Houston SPCA veterinarian, including fleas and skin issues.  They will remain in the rescue’s care until a hearing is scheduled. It is not known if the owner will face animal cruelty charges.

  1. There’s a video showing the abuse and the “precinct 1 sought charges of animal cruelty against the owner, however the Harris County District Attorney’s Office refused stating there was a “lack of sufficient evidence.””

Really a video is not enough evidence – time to call or email DA and ask how much more proof they need
