Horse survives wildfire that destroyed her family’s home

When the Bear Fire approached the Schulte family’s property in Butte County, there was little time to act. According to ABC 7 News, the family rounded up their dogs and left their home with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Before rushing away, Tammy Schulte’s husband opened the gate for their horse, MJ, and hoped for the best.

Against all odds, MJ survived the devastating blaze that destroyed everything in its path.

With the help of social media, the Shultes learned that MJ was alive and well. The horse has since been relocated to Camelot Equestrian Park in Oroville, and her family is determined to rebuild on their property and bring MJ home.

Tammy’s cousin, Lisa, reached out to the Pet Rescue Report and shared the heartwarming story of survival, as well as Tammy’s commitment to ensure that MJ will be taken care of. She wrote:

The owner of the horse is my cousin and she’s struggling. She’ll make sure her horse is taken care of and she’ll go without if she has to. I just thought it might be something of interest to your readers.
